PLUS A CHANCE TO WIN DREAM GARAGE

BRP is showcasing the complete BRP product portfolio with its Spring Ultimate Playground Tour, visiting select U.S. cities, along with a chance to win a $50,000 BRP dream garage.

Starting March 5 and running to April 19 with stops in traditional spring show locations for BRP’s Ski-Doo line, the tour will offer the first chance to see the 2012 Ski-Doo snowmobiles up close and personal.

As a special show incentive, visitors will receive a chance to win a $50,000 BRP dream garage – the opportunity to fill their garage with their choice of BRP products. Special coupons will be handed out at each tour stop and visitors can go online to check their fortunes.

The Ultimate Playground Tour, as a stand-alone event, steps up its offering by providing more products to view, interactive displays, product specialists to answer questions and more time and flexibility to look around – most stops will now be two days.

“Consumers have been asking for one venue to see all BRP products,” stated Marc-André Dubois, Director of Marketing for Ski-Doo. “In today’s business climate, manufacturers need to be creative and address these changing desires. We have answered with the Ultimate Playground; a one-stop display of all BRP products which makes it much easier and a less time consuming buying experience,” Dubois concluded.

Customers can expect to see current Can-Am ATVs, side-by-side vehicles and Spyder roadsters, Evinrude outboard engines, plus Sea-Doo watercraft and boats in addition to the 2012 Ski-Doo sleds.

The complete Ultimate Playground tour dates, times and locations can be found at www.ski-doo.com, along with all Ski-Doo spring shows.

Alpine Assassins Assassinate Togwotee

  • February 9th 8:00am, my self  (Duncan Lee) , Shane Kelley, Steven Siig, and Logan Knutzen were all huddled around Logans edge chassis 700 trying to get it working so we could load up and head to Wyoming.  Only slightly frustrating when your trying to get on the road for a long haul.  So after some much needed wrenching on our photog’s sled, we got it going and Shane and I felt it would be enough to get him out into the zones to film.  So we loaded up the F.T.T. enclosed trailer and we headed to Reno to meet up with Ken Evans, Ryan Oddo, and John Watts.  Around 10:30 we fueled up the two trucks and were east bound. Pocatello is where we stopped for the night, Punk has a house there so we could catch some sleep and finish the drive to Triangle C Ranch, which is just on the other side of Togwotee pass in Wyoming, in the morning.  We loaded Punk up nice and early, grabbed some breakfast and rolled on.  It was snowing on our drive into Jackson, and all the way to the Ranch, so we knew it was going to be good.  Lucky for us the temps came up from the previous week.  I heard it was -30, so us Cali boys were fired up on some warmer mid 20 degree weather for Wyoming, and stoked that the snow would be blower!

  • February 10th 2:00pm.  The Tahoe crew with Punk, rolled into Triangle C Ranch.  We met with Antonia, Brian, and some other employees.  Antonia and Brian are the managers of Triangle C and awesome people.  The Ranch is layed out with some corrals, where we parked the rigs, barn, work garage, and stables, for summer operations.  The main house has three huge fire places which are magnificent, a few different couch rooms, family style buffet room, dinning room that can hold around 50+, and a dope bar with all kinds of old western artifacts including a stuffed wolf hanging from the ceiling.   There were 4 or 5 cabins that were all two story’s and great housing.   We were given the Trapper cabin, which had….. Upstairs, two rooms.  One with a Cali King (mine) a pull out couch, bathroom tub, and wood burning stove.  The other room had two Queen beds, pull out couch, bathroom, and a fold out bed, there was also a wrap around deck with a door in each room.   Then downstairs, three bedrooms, two with cali kings, one with a Queen and two bunk beds, three pull out couches and a stove in the common room.  We were dialed!

  • 4:00 pm,  Randy and the Utah crew showed up.   Lets see there was, Randy Sugihara, Gale, Jake, Jeff, and Ryan.  So now we had around 13 guys…….. We got settled, unloaded the sleds and rode up to Lava Lodge to get Wyoming riding permits.  Brian, the manager took us up there and then from there we rode the trail system back to Triangle C, which took a little and was nice to roost just a bit in the dark.  We were a little late for dinner, which was absolutely amazing.  I thought wow, we get these kind of meals for three nights, and mornings.! yes!  After dinner we all talked with Brian about where he thought we should ride, the drive in was looking good, and the snow had stopped so we knew it was going to be epic.  Brian said, and we agreed that we should ride from the ranch.  So off to sleep so we could all rip it up manyana.

  • February 11th 7:00 am.   Amazing Breakfast, egg cheese scramble with veggies, cinnamon rolls, fresh juice, coffee….um the bomb.   Ok so just after that we geared up and were on our sleds.  Cold clear and looking fresh! We rode some serious trails.. the trees were thick and after a while we found this line down a tight gully that gobbled up some of the Utah boys in a bit of a stuck fest!  The riding was technical and fun, (at least I thought) and that was only the first few hours.  We then got to the main trails of Togwotee and found some fun stuff to play around on, we had spent most of the day getting short side hill shots and pow shots.  Randy hit this little lip over a tree and right to the bottom of the pocket.  We were all amazed he was ok with such a flat landing… it was classic Randy going big.  After lots more trail we had to go tofueltogte Togwotee Lodge to get some sled fuel.  With the sun setting  we had about a 30 mile trail ride back to the Ranch.  Dang that’s way more trail than any of us had ever ridden, especially on our mountain sleds…. hahaha.  It was nice to be out riding, and seeing new places, it is amazing that these other states have these state funded trail systems, but out here in California they would rather convict all us sledders for having too much fun.  I just don’t get it.tetonsunset  It was awesome to be in a place where everyone likes snowmobiling and has one!   So our day was one long super cold trail ride back from being over.  It took quite a while to get back, and was very dark by the time we pulled in.   We just made it to dinner, which was again “The Bomb”.  Then for the 2011 Alpine Assassins film I made everyone do some interviews about the day and what they thought tomorrow might bring.  It was a great way to get everyone fired up, even though it was below zero out side on the porch where we were doing the interviews….. So some tired cold riders sacked out with hopes to get to some bigger terrain for the next day.

intrvewdecksugipunkdeck

  • February 12th 7:00am.  Another delicious breakfast, and a talk about where we will be riding.  We got a call from Anton Council, who is from Cali but was in the area and used to live in Jackson, saying that we should trailer to Togwotee pass and ride north.  After a 90 mile trail ride the first day we, being from some big mountains, needed some bigger terrain.   As we were loading up the selds at the Ranch Randy noticed that his sleds skid frame was compressed.  After some ice chipping he found a broken shock, and some bent parts….. Bummer, it was blue bird and pow and we were in route to the goods.  Brian at the ranch let Randy pull into the garage and start to wrench, its always someones turn to have a broken sled and miss a pow day.   So the rest of us headed to the staging area and Randy and Punk took off to Jackson to get parts, lucky for him they had them.  We met Anton at the staging area and he came through with some dope terrain. odocornice Not two miles off the road we found the first zone to play on.  Everyone hit a warm up drop, got a shot, then moved on.  Just before Siig and I left the zone, Jake decided to air over a big volkswagen chunk of broken cornice.  It was dope until he landed, he grabbed a lil trench and got tossed, full bail cart wheel.  It was a good bail, soft and nothing was damaged at all.  So we rode on to the next face.  There was this nice large cliff atop a mountain, perfect run in, big drop over rocks, and a perfect landing.  Anton and Ken shot up to the top to scope it.  It was on.  Anton dropped between the rocks over some snow, it looked good! Ken was lined up over all the big rocks. kencliffweb Looking big, off he went, a few seconds of air time and pow, sicky landing.  It looked so good, Anton went back for another drop, which he went bigger than the last, stomped it and was riding down the landing, when baaaammm!! He and his sled got rocked, literally, huge cartwheel tumbling sled tumbling Anton.  On the run out there was a wind blown patch that was hiding a watermelon size rock that Anton smacked exactly.  Lucky enough his sled was rideable to get out with a taco’d lower A-Arm, bent S module, busted fox evolve shock, and bent rails.  The good thing was he was ok, but a bummer he was done for the day.   Well those two guys made that drop look so good that I decided to get some too.  I spied a landing that would take me over one rock that was protruding just enough, I was all lined up on top and could feel the adrenaline pumping.  Oh yea this is the first big air of the season with good snow, I was fired up.  I judged my speed, lined up, and went for it.  Oh the feeling of a big drop is one of a kind, especially when you cannot see over your hood until your half way through it, then the landing comes into view and you know its good.  Pow I landed in some sweet soft snow and rode out with confidence.antoncliffweb  It was awesome.  Nobody else wanted some so the gang moved on.  We found a smaller cornice roll that didn’t really have a good lip, but Ken pinned it and took it large dlecliffweb(if you don’t know Ken likes to go big), he bombed a nice 60+ and caught a deep landing.   After some more pow turns, Jake was into a line off it between Kens and this little tree…..  Well kind of like a dart board, Jake got a bulls-eye.  Yup he went for it.  His line was looking good until he came off the top, accidently  lined up on the tree, mid air he bailed out and his sled took out the tree perfectly.  So that’s #2 wad from Jake, good thing it antonwrenchwebwas super deep and he was yet again ok, and his sled was even ok.  Some scratches but no bent parts……. Unreal.  Some of the crew was over the zone and made their way to the top.  After two wrecks, and I’m sure feeling slightly bummed, Jake found this cool hip that he and I hit a few times, then I saw Randy coming into the bowl.  Wow he got parts and fixed his sled, it was around 3:00pm.  Randy hit the hip and we then rode to meet up with the crew.  The sun was getting lower and the light was epic.  As we were getting some boondocking shots and I spied this cliff a little ways away.  Ken, Randy, Siigo, Jake, and Oddo went to check it.  Ken and Randy thought the landing was hiding too many rocks, but Jake seemed to want it bad.  He and Oddo went to the top and Jake lined up, it didn’t look very good, but Jake was all about it. kenlifey2 He dropped in, upon landing he tagged a rock (just like Ken and Randy thought) this time he broke his sled, the S module, Shock, lower A-Arm, and probably more.  But he was ok again with just a few bruises, #3 wad I couldnt believe it.  Some days just dont go that well, but way to huck Jake…….  We grabbed some amazing sunset shots and then rode the 2 miles back to the truck.  What a day! Now back to the Ranch for our last amazing dinner with Antonia, Brian, their kids Hunter and Walker, and cousin Stepheny the bartender.  jaketreeweb After our meal we all hung out in the bar section, broke out the lights and got Brian to give an interview about Wyoming and what his take is on the place.  We finished up our stay with some good words and great high fives.   It was an awsome stay at Triangle C Ranch, and if you ever get the chance you should get a meal or just some hang time with Antonia and Brian, they are some truly amazing people that know what it is to live!  B.A.M.!!!

  • February 13th 8:00am.  Last breakfast, so good, settle up with the Ranch and load to go to Jackson to ride a little spot just south of town.  With that many guys its hard to get everyone going and always takes time.  So after we got all loaded up we got on the road.  A couple hours later we were pulling into Mosquito Creek.  The trail head was a two lane road to dead end, not much parking and we were arriving just after noon.  Once we got riding the road was a WHOOOPPED out trail, and I mean 3 foot deep whoops!!  dang hope its good out there for all these whoops.  We passed three snowboarder dudes, they were on their way out.  We found some epic tree riding, then Ken had this killer pocket of dope down hill pow turns.  Randy happened upon this snowboardkendownhil jump that looked old, had some other guys sled track in the landing, so Randy sacked up and hit it a couple times.  Nice looking jump with this dead tree that he was almost jumping through and it was a full hip, so Randy was all flicked out.  After that we didn’t have much sun, so we found as cool hill to shred tree lines in.  A fun place and then a gnarly whoop trail out.  At the bottom we saw a Red Bull wrapped sled, and judging by all the big snowboard jumps that we didn’t hit, but looked very tempting,  we figured Travis Rice the snowboard bro bra visits the zone a lot.  Since we roll with lots of stickers we figured it would be a good idea to tag this Red Bull sled with some AA love.  Why not everyone likes stickers, I mean its even a full sticker wrap.  We then drove into Jackson for some grub and a good bye for the team.  A great three days of hard riding, with one big drop in the middle and killer pow.sugihiptree  This is going to make for a great segment in our 2011 film.  So if you go to Jackson check out Togwotee because it has every type of riding you might be into. And definitely don’t forget to stop by to see Antonia and Brian, thanks so much for making our experience an unforgettable one.  Ride on!! kenairwebkenpointweboddolifeysledoddopowairwebproduction1webshanesledlifeyshanevertdlefaceweb1sugihipsunsetwyshanepowturnweb

January Mission to Revelstoke B.C.

Thursday, February 3rd, 2011

January 24th WashoeVally NV, 9:00 am Ken Evans and myself (Duncan Lee) loaded up with John Helemerin his Big Foot cab over 4 wheel drive diesel pusher R.V. with the Full Throttle Tahoe enclosed trailer.  We were heading to McCall Idaho to ride better conditions than Tahoe.  9:30 Reno NV, get a phone call that makes us pull over at the GSR parking lot.  Kenney from North West Motorspors  is in Revelstoke B.C. and says its off the hook deep and we need to drive straight there.  After we thought about it for about oohhh 2 seconds we said, “Revelstoke it is!”  We had planned on not needing our passports for McCall so we had to scramble to round them up.   Luckily Dennis Troy is a dope friend and he brought mine down from my house in Truckee, John and Ken drove back their houses and grabbed theirs,  during the passport round up Brian (Bling Bling) called and decided to join the trip if we were going to Revelstoke.  So we picked up Bling Blingand pulled out of town at 1:00pm.  The nice thing with Johns cabover is that we could take turns driving and sleeping so we could rally straight there, a cool 20 hours is what the i phone said.  After two 50 gal tanks of diesel and a long night we were at the 20 hr mark, and about to the Canadian border which was still at least 4 or more hours to Revy. rig1The roads had changed from dry to wet to snowy through the wee hours of the night and we could since we were getting close.  We finally pulled into the border, then spent a 45 min ordeal explaining that the stickers on the side of the trailer”Snowmobile Rentals  530-536-8774″ were for Lake Tahoe snowmobile rentals,  Full Throttle Tahoe, where Ken and I work.  The patrol man didn’t seem to get it and kept asking us if the sleds in the trailer were rentals.   About 5 times we told him that they were our personal sleds and we were going to ride some deep pow and kill it.  Then he asked about sled registration, which if you live in Nevada you don’t have, this also was confusing to him.  I think he finallygave up because he let us through and said to bring our titles next time.  Wow for a minute I wasn’t sure if we were getting in.  It felt good to be in another country withour sleds, in route to some of the best riding areas around.  The trees were filled withsnow, the clouds were low, foggy at times.   The roads were thick withgloppy snow and ice and  making it a bit sketchy driving this heavy rig with the Canadian truckers flying by.  We found a coffee shop in Castlegar to grab some breakfast and at hot cup of joe.  Some patrons were telling us about how it has been snowing and they have the most snow in town that has been in 30 years.  Since we were rolling without a road map and only with i phones and we only made one wrong turn, I found us a Canadian map to get us to Revy.  We were on the final stretch and one ferry crossing to go.ferrylanding  John and Ken found this hot spring that was on the way  and only a few miles from the ferry, so we stopped for a relaxing dip.   We got on the ferry with the rig and pulled into Revelstoke a shot bit later.canadaroad2  Kenny that was up there had booked us some rooms at the Peaks Lodge and was there to great us.  This place was dope! Restaurant bar, fuel, and riding to Boulder Mt. and Frisby Mt.  right from the front door.  Fresh snow all over, covered trees, roads, cars, and buildings.  We knew the riding was going to be all time 6,000 plus feet above the lodge.  After a while John Heston and Philip Yribar with 208 productions out of McCall Idaho, who heard we were going to Revy, showed up and we all got ready for tomorrow’s ride.  It must be have been a good call to go to Revy instead of McCall if these guys came up too.

Day 1:  We woke up to cloudy sky’s and phat snow flakes falling.  More pow piling up so we went into the Peaks restaurant for some breakfast, geared up, fueled up, and rode out! A nice trail that started to climb, and the snow got deeper as the minutes passed.  On the trail we saw about 20 other sledders, then Philips new polaris assault began to act up and sound not so happy, philipsledwas it the 500 foot elevation we started at? My sled was not too happy without changing the main jets.  So after a bit of wire chasing and plugging and unplugging we rode up to the “cabin” which was at about 6,000 feet with an open meadow and even more sledders.  We were in the clouds at this point and it was still dumping.  The snow had gotten better and deeper, now riding off the path was only for the adventurous.  Philips sled continued to have issues so he turned back to hestonsee if he could fix it that day so he could ride the next.  We hooked up with a guy named Homer and he had 7 other sledders with him.  So now it was , Me, Ken Evans, Kenny, John, Bling, John Heston, Homer, and these other guys.  So Homer, knowing the area and given the foggy clouds and 10 foot visibility, lead the charge up the trail to the top, across areas we couldn’t see, down and up and around.  Then we hit a treed meadow and took a break.  It was a bit of a stuck fest but so good and deep.  The only problem was not being able to see the terrain.  Any bump would pitch you and you were already pinned to stay afloat.  We all had a blast, but couldn’t film much. crewcabin1 We made it back to the Cabin area making a loop.  At cloudbrakthat moment we saw the clouds lifting and sun was starting to poke through.  We got a lucky afternoon/ sunset where we went up top and found some unreal terrain that Ken and I were scoping for the next day.  The sun was setting and it got dark quick.  We then made the journey down the mountain.  Made it to the Peaks Lodge and went for some dinner.  After some good brews and killer buffalo burgers at The Great White North we called it a night and crashed out so we could get to work the next day.

Day 2:  We awoke again to the same weather of snowing gray sky’s.  But the bonus was that town usually has a cloud cover and up top can be clear because top is around 7,000 feet above us.  So we got going, Kenny had a backup sled that he let Philip ride so he could come up and film, because his Polaris will need some more than quick fix when dealing with electric ghosts.  Through the cloud layer and to the top where there were even higher clouds, bummer.  Visibility was better than the day before but now super flat light where if you were standing on a 10 foot drop you couldn’t make out the landing, was it flat? was it steep? was there a bump?  So we rode on and scoped out the rest of what was close by.  We found a kid named Dustin on a 146 xp.  He took us to some killer wind rolls and we jibbed around.  I blew a belt mid whip turn down and it blasted a hole through the plasicunder the clutches.  Not so good when its deep pow, now my clutches were packed with pow and they were just spinning on the belt.  After 3 heavy duty zip ties, 1 red bull can, and a whole lot of gorilla tape, we made a patch so I could ride the rest of the day.  At that point John Heston felt his seld running funky.   He has been doing lots of tuning and testing with his Polaris RMK 800 with boondockers turbo trying to use the best recipe of parts and power to make it rip.  Which it was until it sucked a reed.  So Heston and Philip needed to roll out.  The light was still flat, and there were some hills to make to get to the trail down.  Helmer, Bling, and Kenneywent with them to make sure they made it to the trail.  Myself, Ken Evans, and our new buddy Dustin went further to check out what was to be had.  We ran into Homer and hiskennyrencrew again, then Helmer, Bling, and Kenny caughtup with us. senic3It was off the hook, we went to sugar bowl, Bull pen, turbo hill, and a bunch of other zones that I wasn’t concerned about their name but the terrain was dope.  The clouds never went away, it snowed on and off, and wind picked up a bit.  We found this lil drop and Dustin wanted some action.  He went up and was scoping it out, picked a line and started to walk back to his sled.  The cornice broke, it wasn’t a huge one but he dropped about 7 feet and clung to the crown.  He wouldn’t have been buried but it does remind you that when its deep, anything can happen.  Ken and John went up and tossed him a rope to pull him up because it was a vertical wall and he was just standing there.  After some good riding and playing the ol fuel light came on and Dustin wasn’t sure how much he had either.  elevationsignWe then went to the peak to catch sun set.

kensunset Amazing view when the sun gets below all the clouds and lights up every peak with a alpine glow that was unreal.  Another day on top of the world riding some epic pow.  We rolled into the Peaks Lodge had dinner and passed out.  One more day ahead of us.

cloudpeaksDAy3 we were not in any rush, I missed breakfast withthe crew so went in and ended up sitting down with the owner of the Peaks Lodge Alek.  He is one hilarious guy, loud and comical.  We had a great talk and I explained what Alpine Assassins is doing for our 2011 film.  So look for the segment on the Peaks Lodge.  We will be heading up there again with more of the team.  Alek decided to take us riding at his secret “Sexy Honey Hole” as he called it.  So we fueled up loaded up and got on the road.  It was the same direction we were heading back to the states so it was perfect.  I can’t tell you where or what it was called, but I will say that it was the best day of riding on the trip.  Just Alek, John Helmer, Bling Bling, Ken Evans, and myslef.  It snowed all day on us but the trees were calling us.  So we boondocked our way around and picked apart various areas of side-hills and tec lines.  Super fun.  Found some big cliffs for next time that we will definitely be dropping if the conditions are good and the visibility is available.  We only saw 4 other selds that day and found out that its more of a locals only area, which would explain the looks from the other sledders.  But not to worry my Canadian friends your secret stash is safe with us.  We got back to the truck around 5, loaded up, tossed the wet gear in the trailer and set the cruise control for a 27 hour drive back.  Yup  the diesel didn’t turn off until we hit Bling Blings, and unloaded everyone else.  What a week, thank you Kenney at nwmsrocks.com, John Helmer for the dope rig,  Alek and the Peaks Lodge in Revy, and Bling and Ken for all pitching in for a great introduction to riding in Canada.  I will be there every season from now on!
