Well with the snowmobile season winding down and the creation of the new Alpine Assassins film underway, its is always a tough time of year. But even so we are still out riding what snow is left and getting a tan as we shread. Lots of people put their sleds away for the summer and switch over to their summer sports, boating, moto, mtnbiking, golf. well what ever it is that you are out doing do it hard and keep a look out for some of the AA team. They all like to sport in lots of different areas and on different toys. We will be finishing the film teaser soon, like a week or two, so keep your eyes on our web site as well as all the other sites we are on and post on. This film is going to be awesome and has lots of big action it will also be showcasing a few of the places that the Alpine Assassins team went to ride this season. Until then, ride on!

Monday, April 25th, 2011Well its spring in the Sierra and that means Huckfest! This year we will be holding Huckfest 3.0 at the same location as last year. You need to ride a snowmobile out to the area and be ready for fun. We will be holding various races, drags, freestyle, raffle’s, bbq, and some DJ’s. We look forward to see you and your family, friends, and moms out there May 7th and May 8th. 10:00am till 4:00 pm, A two day extravaganza of epic spring snowmobiling and a glorious weekend of fun.
To get there: take North hwy 89 from Truckee CA 14 miles to Jackson Meadows Road (Little Truckee Summit OHV staging area) forest road 07: Park at the snow, jump on a sled and ride 7.5 miles out toward Jackson Meadows Rez. Look right and come on in.

Thin Air Demo Day at Full Throttle Tahoe April 2nd 10am-4pm

Thin Air will have 2011 models from Ski-Doo and Polaris at the Full Throttle Tahoe trails for people to ride and check out. The Ski Doo Freeride, and E-Tek, also the Polaris Assualt, and Pro RMK. They might even have a 163 Pro RMK with a turbo there too!! Come out and find the right sled for you. The early order deals end mid April so this might be your only chance to ride the sled before you order it.
Alpine Assassins Assassinate Togwotee

- February 9th 8:00am, my self (Duncan Lee) , Shane Kelley, Steven Siig, and Logan Knutzen were all huddled around Logans edge chassis 700 trying to get it working so we could load up and head to Wyoming. Only slightly frustrating when your trying to get on the road for a long haul. So after some much needed wrenching on our photog’s sled, we got it going and Shane and I felt it would be enough to get him out into the zones to film. So we loaded up the F.T.T. enclosed trailer and we headed to Reno to meet up with Ken Evans, Ryan Oddo, and John Watts. Around 10:30 we fueled up the two trucks and were east bound. Pocatello is where we stopped for the night, Punk has a house there so we could catch some sleep and finish the drive to Triangle C Ranch, which is just on the other side of Togwotee pass in Wyoming, in the morning. We loaded Punk up nice and early, grabbed some breakfast and rolled on. It was snowing on our drive into Jackson, and all the way to the Ranch, so we knew it was going to be good. Lucky for us the temps came up from the previous week. I heard it was -30, so us Cali boys were fired up on some warmer mid 20 degree weather for Wyoming, and stoked that the snow would be blower!
- February 10th 2:00pm. The Tahoe crew with Punk, rolled into Triangle C Ranch. We met with Antonia, Brian, and some other employees. Antonia and Brian are the managers of Triangle C and awesome people. The Ranch is layed out with some corrals, where we parked the rigs, barn, work garage, and stables, for summer operations. The main house has three huge fire places which are magnificent, a few different couch rooms, family style buffet room, dinning room that can hold around 50+, and a dope bar with all kinds of old western artifacts including a stuffed wolf hanging from the ceiling. There were 4 or 5 cabins that were all two story’s and great housing. We were given the Trapper cabin, which had….. Upstairs, two rooms. One with a Cali King (mine) a pull out couch, bathroom tub, and wood burning stove. The other room had two Queen beds, pull out couch, bathroom, and a fold out bed, there was also a wrap around deck with a door in each room. Then downstairs, three bedrooms, two with cali kings, one with a Queen and two bunk beds, three pull out couches and a stove in the common room. We were dialed!
- 4:00 pm, Randy and the Utah crew showed up. Lets see there was, Randy Sugihara, Gale, Jake, Jeff, and Ryan. So now we had around 13 guys…….. We got settled, unloaded the sleds and rode up to Lava Lodge to get Wyoming riding permits. Brian, the manager took us up there and then from there we rode the trail system back to Triangle C, which took a little and was nice to roost just a bit in the dark. We were a little late for dinner, which was absolutely amazing. I thought wow, we get these kind of meals for three nights, and mornings.! yes! After dinner we all talked with Brian about where he thought we should ride, the drive in was looking good, and the snow had stopped so we knew it was going to be epic. Brian said, and we agreed that we should ride from the ranch. So off to sleep so we could all rip it up manyana.
- February 11th 7:00 am. Amazing Breakfast, egg cheese scramble with veggies, cinnamon rolls, fresh juice, coffee….um the bomb. Ok so just after that we geared up and were on our sleds. Cold clear and looking fresh! We rode some serious trails.. the trees were thick and after a while we found this line down a tight gully that gobbled up some of the Utah boys in a bit of a stuck fest! The riding was technical and fun, (at least I thought) and that was only the first few hours. We then got to the main trails of Togwotee and found some fun stuff to play around on, we had spent most of the day getting short side hill shots and pow shots. Randy hit this little lip over a tree and right to the bottom of the pocket. We were all amazed he was ok with such a flat landing… it was classic Randy going big. After lots more trail we had to go to
Togwotee Lodge to get some sled fuel. With the sun setting we had about a 30 mile trail ride back to the Ranch. Dang that’s way more trail than any of us had ever ridden, especially on our mountain sleds…. hahaha. It was nice to be out riding, and seeing new places, it is amazing that these other states have these state funded trail systems, but out here in California they would rather convict all us sledders for having too much fun. I just don’t get it.
It was awesome to be in a place where everyone likes snowmobiling and has one! So our day was one long super cold trail ride back from being over. It took quite a while to get back, and was very dark by the time we pulled in. We just made it to dinner, which was again “The Bomb”. Then for the 2011 Alpine Assassins film I made everyone do some interviews about the day and what they thought tomorrow might bring. It was a great way to get everyone fired up, even though it was below zero out side on the porch where we were doing the interviews….. So some tired cold riders sacked out with hopes to get to some bigger terrain for the next day.
- February 12th 7:00am. Another delicious breakfast, and a talk about where we will be riding. We got a call from Anton Council, who is from Cali but was in the area and used to live in Jackson, saying that we should trailer to Togwotee pass and ride north. After a 90 mile trail ride the first day we, being from some big mountains, needed some bigger terrain. As we were loading up the selds at the Ranch Randy noticed that his sleds skid frame was compressed. After some ice chipping he found a broken shock, and some bent parts….. Bummer, it was blue bird and pow and we were in route to the goods. Brian at the ranch let Randy pull into the garage and start to wrench, its always someones turn to have a broken sled and miss a pow day. So the rest of us headed to the staging area and Randy and Punk took off to Jackson to get parts, lucky for him they had them. We met Anton at the staging area and he came through with some dope terrain.
Not two miles off the road we found the first zone to play on. Everyone hit a warm up drop, got a shot, then moved on. Just before Siig and I left the zone, Jake decided to air over a big volkswagen chunk of broken cornice. It was dope until he landed, he grabbed a lil trench and got tossed, full bail cart wheel. It was a good bail, soft and nothing was damaged at all. So we rode on to the next face. There was this nice large cliff atop a mountain, perfect run in, big drop over rocks, and a perfect landing. Anton and Ken shot up to the top to scope it. It was on. Anton dropped between the rocks over some snow, it looked good! Ken was lined up over all the big rocks. 
Looking big, off he went, a few seconds of air time and pow, sicky landing. It looked so good, Anton went back for another drop, which he went bigger than the last, stomped it and was riding down the landing, when baaaammm!! He and his sled got rocked, literally, huge cartwheel tumbling sled tumbling Anton. On the run out there was a wind blown patch that was hiding a watermelon size rock that Anton smacked exactly. Lucky enough his sled was rideable to get out with a taco’d lower A-Arm, bent S module, busted fox evolve shock, and bent rails. The good thing was he was ok, but a bummer he was done for the day. Well those two guys made that drop look so good that I decided to get some too. I spied a landing that would take me over one rock that was protruding just enough, I was all lined up on top and could feel the adrenaline pumping. Oh yea this is the first big air of the season with good snow, I was fired up. I judged my speed, lined up, and went for it. Oh the feeling of a big drop is one of a kind, especially when you cannot see over your hood until your half way through it, then the landing comes into view and you know its good. Pow I landed in some sweet soft snow and rode out with confidence.
It was awesome. Nobody else wanted some so the gang moved on. We found a smaller cornice roll that didn’t really have a good lip, but Ken pinned it and took it large 
(if you don’t know Ken likes to go big), he bombed a nice 60+ and caught a deep landing. After some more pow turns, Jake was into a line off it between Kens and this little tree….. Well kind of like a dart board, Jake got a bulls-eye. Yup he went for it. His line was looking good until he came off the top, accidently lined up on the tree, mid air he bailed out and his sled took out the tree perfectly. So that’s #2 wad from Jake, good thing it 
was super deep and he was yet again ok, and his sled was even ok. Some scratches but no bent parts……. Unreal. Some of the crew was over the zone and made their way to the top. After two wrecks, and I’m sure feeling slightly bummed, Jake found this cool hip that he and I hit a few times, then I saw Randy coming into the bowl. Wow he got parts and fixed his sled, it was around 3:00pm. Randy hit the hip and we then rode to meet up with the crew. The sun was getting lower and the light was epic. As we were getting some boondocking shots and I spied this cliff a little ways away. Ken, Randy, Siigo, Jake, and Oddo went to check it. Ken and Randy thought the landing was hiding too many rocks, but Jake seemed to want it bad. He and Oddo went to the top and Jake lined up, it didn’t look very good, but Jake was all about it. 
He dropped in, upon landing he tagged a rock (just like Ken and Randy thought) this time he broke his sled, the S module, Shock, lower A-Arm, and probably more. But he was ok again with just a few bruises, #3 wad I couldnt believe it. Some days just dont go that well, but way to huck Jake……. We grabbed some amazing sunset shots and then rode the 2 miles back to the truck. What a day! Now back to the Ranch for our last amazing dinner with Antonia, Brian, their kids Hunter and Walker, and cousin Stepheny the bartender. 
After our meal we all hung out in the bar section, broke out the lights and got Brian to give an interview about Wyoming and what his take is on the place. We finished up our stay with some good words and great high fives. It was an awsome stay at Triangle C Ranch, and if you ever get the chance you should get a meal or just some hang time with Antonia and Brian, they are some truly amazing people that know what it is to live! B.A.M.!!!
- February 13th 8:00am. Last breakfast, so good, settle up with the Ranch and load to go to Jackson to ride a little spot just south of town. With that many guys its hard to get everyone going and always takes time. So after we got all loaded up we got on the road. A couple hours later we were pulling into Mosquito Creek. The trail head was a two lane road to dead end, not much parking and we were arriving just after noon. Once we got riding the road was a WHOOOPPED out trail, and I mean 3 foot deep whoops!! dang hope its good out there for all these whoops. We passed three snowboarder dudes, they were on their way out. We found some epic tree riding, then Ken had this killer pocket of dope down hill pow turns. Randy happened upon this snowboard
jump that looked old, had some other guys sled track in the landing, so Randy sacked up and hit it a couple times. Nice looking jump with this dead tree that he was almost jumping through and it was a full hip, so Randy was all flicked out. After that we didn’t have much sun, so we found as cool hill to shred tree lines in. A fun place and then a gnarly whoop trail out. At the bottom we saw a Red Bull wrapped sled, and judging by all the big snowboard jumps that we didn’t hit, but looked very tempting, we figured Travis Rice the snowboard bro bra visits the zone a lot. Since we roll with lots of stickers we figured it would be a good idea to tag this Red Bull sled with some AA love. Why not everyone likes stickers, I mean its even a full sticker wrap. We then drove into Jackson for some grub and a good bye for the team. A great three days of hard riding, with one big drop in the middle and killer pow.
This is going to make for a great segment in our 2011 film. So if you go to Jackson check out Togwotee because it has every type of riding you might be into. And definitely don’t forget to stop by to see Antonia and Brian, thanks so much for making our experience an unforgettable one. Ride on!! 
High Fives Foundation
Tuesday, January 11th, 2011My new friend Roy Tuscany is a roll model. The world does not have enough people like Roy and would be such a better place if it did. Roy had a life changing injury, I’m not exactly sure when, a few years ago. From that moment on he knew what he was going to do. He started High Fives and has been spreading love and high fives ever since. My best friend that I have known since 2nd grade, Grant Korgan, sustained a very similar injury March 5th 2010. Two weeks after surgerywe found Roy and instantly Grant had amazing support and knowledge of what he was going through. Not only did High Fives Foundation take Grant on as one of their sponsored athletes, but they make it possible for Grant to continue to persue his goal of running. High Fives Foundation gets winter sports athletes back on their feet and keeps them fired up on their path to recovery. Roy Tuscany provides insight andamazing attitude along with friendship above and beyond. Watch this commercial and understand a little more what High Fives Foundation is all about. Without Roy and High Fives I know my best friends life would be a bit different and his path to recovery much longer! So thank you Roy and High Fives for making the world a better place! 2011 is here!
Tuesday, January 4th, 2011So it is a new year, a new season, and some new things are going to go down! The holidays are over and it is time to start riding big. This season you will see some crazy tree riding, crazy big mountain riding, and of course some big hucking. Not only are we going to push the limits even further, but we are also going to bring more insight into our sport. With Taylor Dyess running the sno-cross series, and Shadd Free winning hill climb titles, the Alpine Assassins will be all over the place riding hard. Randy Sugihara is out in Utah killing it, Steve Martin doing freestyle shows is a must see with his bag of tricks, Ken Evans, A.V., and D.Lee are about to rip the Tahoe area up with all the snow that has fallen, and there are some new additions to the team, Punk Coby and Ryan Oddo will be stepping up this year and laying down some bigger lines.
The stoke is here, and the energy is building, there are some things about to go down. Come find us on the snow, or check out our film that is opening eyes and has people saying “wow, these guys are the real”. We live to ride and love this sport.

Thursday, December 9th, 2010So over the last few weeks the Lake Tahoe area has seen all kinds of weather. It started with a pounding of over 6 feet, then some more storms bringing inches and feet. Riding was bottomless, deep, and gnarly. Then the rain came…………. usually I hate rain, but it actually made for a killer base. It packed down all that fluff and now we have great riding above 7,000. On Tuesday I counted 13 sleds at Donner Summit, yes all people we know. The good thing is that it kept snowing up high so there was fresh pow on top of old pow. We went out and rode all day, some came back early, some came back after dark, all in all it was a dope day and about every half hour I would say “I can’t believe how good it is”. I am looking out the window right now at rain at 6,000 feet. I hope the temps drop because where my mail box was buried, it is now a few feet above the snow. Weather report says higher temps, but I did see something out by Hawaii building, so I am hopeing that it will be a big storm and burry us all again.
With the Rain that is falling, it provides time to work on the sleds to prepare them for the season. So far I have swapped a track, put on RSI bar/riser full kit, Team jack shaft conversion with Team roller secondary, serviced clutches and changed some springs, ramps, and weights to make my xp 146 absolutely rip! I went back to stock A-Arms, and so far I am loving how she rides in the trees. I can’t wait til the next ride!
The AA annual night ride is coming up and looks like it will be Saturday January 1st. There will be a proper flyer and post under the events page soon. Hope to see lots of people out there, its a great ride, from either the cotton wood in Truckee, or the top of HWY 267, we ride to Tahoe City for refreshments and hang out, then back on the sleds to the trail head. Last year we had over 20 people, and I hope it will grow. We provide a good deal on rental sleds (1 or 2 seaters). If anyone needs to rent one for the night please contact me.
